For app developers and marketing managers, the crucial\nquestion appears, \u2018How will this iOS 13 affect ASO?\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Enhanced speed and better performance are at the focus of\niOS 13. At WWDC19 it was declared that app downloads will be decreased by 50%\nand their updates by 60% \u2013 making app downloads twice as fast. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is a huge win that might prompt an improvement in\nconversion rates and develop the overall user experience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apple had also initially improved the cellular download\nlimit to 200MB per app but recently decided to withdraw the restriction\naltogether. This not only makes it more accessible to download larger apps\non-the-go \u2013 it gives users more control over downloads. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the new preference in iTunes & App Store \u2018App\nDownloads,\u2019 users can decide to bypass the limitations or put notifications in\nplace if a download is larger than 200MB. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Apple Watch will be getting its app store and users\nwill be able to download apps immediately on their watch. Searches on the Apple\nWatch app store will essentially be through voice dictation or via Siri. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new Siri will have more multi-action commands and\nmore combination with apps with built-in shortcuts. In the app store, the\noption for voice dictation will be presented in the search tab itself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Minor tweaks like the rounded corners in screenshots can\nbe seen \u2013 but the actual UI updates that will affect user engagement are on the\nsearch page. In the search tab itself, there\u2019s more of a focus on games as the\ntext is \u2018games, apps, stories and more\u2019 instead of simply \u2018app store.\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Voice dictation and emoji icons will also have their\nplace to the right and left of the keyboard, making it more comfortable for\nusers to use emojis in their searches. When updating a title and subtitle, this\nwill be something to keep in mind. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
There was also an update that supports design. Earlier,\nwhen searching for an app, trending app titles were suggested under the search\ntab. With iOS 13, trending app icons will be added under the search tab making\nit very easy to download apps that might draw attention. The app icon could\nthen play an important role in getting app impressions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The search page will work as another platform for the\nbrowsing channel \u201cToday.\u201d If your app is trending \u2013 this will surely encourage\nhigh conversion rates. If your app is yet young, however, it forms yet another\nbarrier to an app\u2019s exposure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new iOS 13 has made it more difficult for users to be\ninformed about updates and release notes. The update icon at the bottom of the\napp store will be replaced with Apple\u2019s new Arcade. This is in line with its\nfocus on games and stories. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
